3 Obvious Investments for Outsized Returns in 2025

You are on vacation and decide to eat Thai food for dinner. You pull out your phone and go onto the Yelp app or Google and search for local Thai food restaurants to find the best Pad Thai.

Three results pop up: The first has 46 reviews with an average of 4.5 (out of 5) stars. The second has 81 reviews with an average of 3.1 stars. And the third has 63 reviews with an average of 2.7 stars. The choice is obvious. Yes, many variables could mean the first restaurant isn’t the best, but why overthink it?

Your girlfriend wants to see Wicked. It’s showing two times tonight: 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. You have to get up early for work tomorrow. Again, the choice is obvious.

You got surgery on your ankle after playing a pickup game of basketball. The doctor puts a boot on your foot. You can use crutches or a scooter to get around when you leave the house. Which do you choose?

Sometimes, we overlook obvious investments. We make excuses like, “Oh, it’s gone up too much already,” “I don’t like their CEO,” or “Jim Cramer told me to buy this instead,” only to regret our decisions after the investment has risen dramatically.

The following three investments are mind-numbingly obvious. I’ve written about all three of these in 2024 and am more convinced that they will outperform in 2025. So, let’s get to it.

Obvious Investment #1: Bitcoin
Current Market Cap $1.92T

Why this is obvious: 2024 was filled with catalysts that made Bitcoin spike to an all-time high of $104,000. It’s easy to think it’s too late to join the party, but it’s not. Here are some of the tailwinds that should boost Bitcoin in 2025.

• Crypto and Bitcoin-friendly government for the first time.

• Huge corporate treasury adoption.

• Competition between different financial titans and billionaires to stack the most BTC.

• Growing investment due to easier accessibility and custody via ETFs.

• Perpetual monetary debasement by all fiat currencies means Bitcoin’s value should increase.

Obvious Investment #1: TSLA stock
Current Market Cap $1.28T

Why this is obvious: I completely whiffed on Tesla throughout my investing journey. I remember when it was trading in the $20s before all the splits, and I could have bought a small amount and gotten rich from it.

Then I missed it during Covid when it shot higher. Worse, I even tried shorting TSLA with options and got completely rekt. I’ve come to terms with the fact that Elon Musk will win.

This has been a good decision. I first wrote about Tesla in June, The Easiest Stock to Be Accumulating Right Now. However, my conviction and bags have grown bigger since then.

Here are some of the reasons why TSLA should be an obvious winner in 2025:

• Elon Musk is a BFF with President-elect Donald Trump. As much as the left wants to state the relationship won’t last, I believe it will (at least for 2025). They both have too much to gain working together.

• Tesla is hitting on all cylinders with multiple verticals. It isn’t simply a car company, but most investors don’t realize this…yet. From battery packs to AI to robotics, Tesla has several revenue sources that will impact its bottom line.

• Many investors have made money on TSLA stock in the past and want to re-experience those gains. Others, like myself, will buy after missing past rallies and want to avoid repeating the same mistake.

• Competitors have fallen further behind on their EVs in the car business, and the ICE business is suffering. Tesla can gain market share, and after getting an EV, it’s hard to go back to pumping gas.

Obvious Investment #3: COIN stock
Current Market Cap: $75B

Why this is obvious: Coinbase and Robinhood should be two of the largest beneficiaries of the 2025 crypto explosion. I chose to include COIN because I am more familiar with the stock.

In June, I wrote about COIN stock, The Stock that Can Massively Outperform Nvidia for the Remainder of 2024. Luckily, since then, COIN has dramatically outperformed NVDA.

I’ve added to my COIN investment like Tesla since I wrote about it. Here’s why it should be an obvious winner in 2025:

• Coinbase has several growing income verticals, including custody, stablecoins, futures, and retail trading.

• The incoming crypto-friendly government should have goodwill towards Coinbase, who raised and donated significant money to their campaigns.

• The legal challenges should be thrown out, overcoming one of its primary headwinds.

• Regulatory clarity should give them a strong footing to grow the business and invite more institutional investment.

Since all of these performed very well in 2024, they should continue to command investor attention in 2025. With the improved regulatory outlook, I think all three of these investments are undervalued today.
